M+B Engineering is recruiting an intermediate electrical designer to join our team in Edmonton, AB. The ideal candidates will be prepared to be responsible for designing, managing, and coordinating projects in the electrical discipline. Prerequisites

  1. Relevant Experience: Experience in Building Electrical Systems Design is required.
    • Minimum 4 years of experience.
    • Note: Up to 10 years of experience in Building Systems Design. Industrial experience will not be considered.
  1. Qualification: A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is required.
  2. Code and Standards Knowledge: Strong familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including the National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and various NFPA and CAN/ULC standards.
  3. Technical Ability: Proficiency in Electrical Building Systems design and project management software and platforms, such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, AGI or Dialux, and Bluebeam, is required.
  4. Proactive Attitude: A strong sense of initiative and a commitment to continuous learning

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Develop electrical designs, project specifications and electrical drawing details for the building’s electrical systems, including but not limited to power, lighting, fire alarm, security, and communications, using Revit, AutoCAD, or any other BIM collaboration software.
  2. Perform Design coordination and quality control on assigned projects.
  3. Collaborate with clients and consultants working through the project.
  4. Project management: Ensure that scheduling, time management, and reporting are implemented effectively and efficiently.
  5. Effectively communicate and coordinate among all parties and disciplines involved in assigned projects.
  6. Accountable for on-site Construction Administration, including completion of site surveys and inspections on construction sites in assigned projects.

Electrical Cad/Revit Operator –  Calgary & Edmonton 

Job description: The drafting team member position requires an increasing degree of independent decision-making and a high level of professionalism. It is preferred that candidates hold an Engineering Design and Drafting (EDDT) or Engineer Design Technology (EDT) diploma. Proficient operating knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is required for all essential functions and responsibilities on a project basis. Additionally, you will coordinate and exercise functional authority for the completion of assigned projects, while demonstrating increasing technical knowledge in drafting techniques and methods.

Typical Duties: Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:

  1. Complete red pen markups from site surveys, photos, and/or instructions from senior electrical engineers.
  2. Assist designers with drawing coordination reviews. Coordinate with other consultants.
  3. Ensure effective communication and coordination between all parties on assigned projects with limited supervision.
  4. Accountable for the quality of service on assigned projects.
  5. Occasional contact with clients, vendor representatives and project field personnel.
  6. Perform assignments with limited instruction regarding the results expected on unusual or complex problems.
  7. Keep the project manager informed of all circumstances that could affect projects or clients.
  8. Keep abreast of technological developments.
  9. Attend technical and professional society meetings and seminars

Key Responsibilities: As a Electrical Cad/Revit Operator with M+B Engineering, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  1. 1. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
    2. Perform assignments with limited instruction regarding the results expected on unusual or complex problems.
    3. Keep abreast of the latest technological developments within AutoCAD, REVIT and associated programs.
    4. Attend technical and professional society meetings and seminars.
    5. Report to the CAD/BIM manager if technical challenges arise, drawing standards and or software-related issues.
